Like Nilay, Amol possesses a strong engineering and material sciences background within the healthcare domain. He joined SynThera as its R&D Director (and first employee) in early 2016, following postdoctoral research stints at University of California, Davis, USA, and at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology in Pune. Amol completed his PhD degree in Biomedical Science with a specialization in biomaterials for dental implants from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, before which he obtained an MSc degree in Applied Polymer Science from Martin Luther Universitaet, Halle (S), Germany. His undergraduate background is in polymer engineering from Pune University. Throughout his research career, he has been interested in the field of application-specific nanotechnology, typically in the biomedical space. At present, Amol manages SynThera’s R&D strategy and implementation of various research projects.
